Weedsport

Weedsport is a charming village in Cayuga County, within the town of Brutus. Originally known as Weed’s Basin, the village was incorporated in 1831 as Weedsport.

Centreport Aqueduct is a historic aqueduct constructed in 1854-1857 as a part of the Weedsport section of the “Improved Erie Canal.” The wood and stone aqueduct carried the Erie Canal over Cold Spring Brook near its juncture with North Brook. This towpath bridge was reconstructed to be nearly identical to the one built here in 1854.
